Obituary

DURK (nee COVERDALE), Joyce Irene – of Wellandport, at Grandview Lodge in Dunnville, on February 14, 2021 in her 89th year, Joyce left her earthly home to meet her Heavenly Father and reunite with loved ones lost along the way. Joyce lived a very full and impactful life, surrounded by family even in her last days. Predeceased by her first husband, Donald Charles Coverdale (1996) and daughter Tracey Joy (1965). Together, they were the loving parents of Marvin (Barb) Coverdale, Randy (Faith) Coverdale, Karen (Ken) Traver and Lloyd (JoAnne) Coverdale. Cherished grandma to Trent Coverdale (predeceased), Tiffany (Glen) Geady, Cory (Trevor) Ireland , Ashley Coverdale, Joshua Coverdale, Shannon (Chuck) Grimme, Megan Traver, Reginald (Katie) Traver, Andrew (Amber) Traver, Darren Coverdale, David Coverdale, Joy-Anna Coverdale, Tim Coverdale, Tyler (Jordan) Coverdale. Adored by 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.Joyce was also predeceased by her second husband, Robert Allan Durk (2009). Her family expanded when she re-married to include Roberta (Michael) Tayti, Brenda Durk, Mark (DeAne) Durk, Linda Webb, Robert (Bonnie) Durk Jr, Richard (Steve) Durk and many new grand and great-grandchildren. Predeceased by parents Hugh and Doris Dilts and stepmom Hazel Dilts, siblings Mona (Frank) Johnson, Arnold (Irene) Dilts, and Everett Dilts. Survived by sibling Stanley (Doreen) Dilts.Lovingly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. Joyce lived a life of service to her Lord. She trusted Him to provide and left a legacy with everyone who is left behind. She taught Sunday school, played piano and always took an active role in the outreach ministry when attending Boyle BIC and Wainfleet BIC church.
She worked many years for DSBN from the 70’s into the 90’s before retiring in 1996 and kept the schools shining while giving a smile to the students who would see her hard at work. In her later years, she gained another ‘family’ with all of the staff at Grandview Lodge in Dunnville. When she moved in, they said she was ‘a breath of fresh air’ and during her time there, she was lovingly cared for by all of the staff who worked with her. Their smiles, laughter and appreciation for her sense of humour made her feel special. The time that they took to do the small things that really mattered the most will be something the family will forever be thankful for.
Family will receive friends at the Ballard Minor Funeral Home, 315 Broad Street E, Dunnville on Wednesday February 17th from 3 - 7 pm. Joyce, thank you for your smile, your contagious laugh and your love for those around you. You made my Papa Durk smile and live life after my Nana passed away. You opened your arms, literally, and hugged us all into your world. You listened to our stories with love and attention. You made us feel loved. Even though we were family for a brief time, I appreciate the love, kindness and memories. Rest in peace. Suffer no more. Smile, laugh and love away! Love, Tianna, Mikayla and Cody xox

To my Cousins, Marvin, Randy, Karen, Lloyd and their families - My thoughts and prayers are with you all as you grieve the passing of your Mother. No words can express the pain and sorrow of losing such a loved one. Aunt Joyce meant the world to me. I have many fond memories of sleepovers at her house and going to Sunday School with her. She always had time for family and plenty of LOVE to share with all of us. Her laughter was contagious and we always enjoyed trying to see who could make her laugh the hardest! She will be missed dearly. She is now rejoicing in Heaven with all her loved ones - free of suffering and pain. All the great memories of Aunt Joyce will live on in our hearts - FOREVER! Love Denise and Family.

I was privileged to have known Joyce Coverdale from my marriage into the Coverdale Family, [George & Emma Jean Coverdale]
She was always a joy to talk to and we shared thought of good times, each time we met, at events that brought us together. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure, to share their small part of Life with Her. My condolences to the Family and friends at this time of sorrow. I am sure that GOD, has a place for Her in Her new Heavenly Home. Love to all.
