Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Robert George Jones, announces his sudden passing at his home on April 6th 2020. Rob had just celebrated his 68th birthday in March. He will be loved and remembered for the beautiful human being that he is.
Beloved father of Alison Jones (Brendan Hand) and Andrea Jones. Loving grandfather to Cordelia and Delilah Jones-Hand. Cherished brother of Deborah (Bruce) Whale and Douglas Jones. Loved long time spouse Irene Tecchi. Regarded former wife Norma Jones (nee. Tiffin). Rob is predeceased by his parents George and Thelma Jones (nee. Sherren).
In keeping with Rob's wishes, cremation has taken place with a memorial to be held at a later date.
In these challenging times we won’t be able to grieve and reminisce together. In lieu of this we are asking everyone to share a message, fond memories, and pictures here. Even though we are forced to grieve separately, we are united by the love and friendship he gave us all.
If you are inclined to give in Rob’s memory, donations to Heart and Stroke or BREATHE the lung association in honour of Rob Jones, would be appreciated by the family.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to BALLARD MINOR FUNERAL HOME, 315 Broad Street East, Dunnville, Ontario. Friends are invited to send condolences and sign the Book of Memories at www.ballardminorfh.ca.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Rob’s passing, and extend my deepest condolences to Rob’s family and friends. I met Rob 35 years ago when we worked together in Banking Operations. Those were such fun times and I hold many special memories of not only the antics we got up to but also, of the warm, caring and sensitive man that Rob was.

I will always remember Rob asking me if he could bring his young daughters to my wedding ceremony. He said they had never seen a ‘real bride’ before and I was happy to give them their first experience. The time we shared a limo to our 25 year service celebration dinner, and Rob being ever the gentleman, making my guests (my parents), feel welcome and included. Rob had the best smile and laugh, and was an all around genuine guy.

Our paths crossed throughout the years in the Hamilton area, and he left a permanent and indelible impact on me as a banker, a confidant, and a friend. Rest In Peace Rob, you will be missed by so many.

Carl and I extend our condolences to your family on the loss of Rob. Indeed, it is a great loss. We did not know Rob well but as lifelong friends of his sister, Deborah, met him a few times on special occasions with her family. We hope you will find healing in the memories you shared with him.

I first met Rob 17 years ago when I transferred from NS to Hamilton. Rob was so welcoming, enthusiastic & a true gentleman in all our interactions.

Rob was my District Vice President for about ten years and I enjoyed him as a boss very much. He didn't just ask about the branch and how the staff was doing, He really cared about me as an individual. We had lunch together several times during his trips to my branch and I really enjoyed talking with him. He truly cared about his team and loved Scotiabank. I was sad when he retired and more sad now given his passing. He was a great man with a big heart and will be sorely missed.
