Obituary for Phyllis Della Newhouse (Marr)
NEWHOUSE, Phyllis Della (nee Marr)
After a stroke, Phyllis passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at the age of 87 at Brantford General Hospital. Phyllis was born the daughter of Bertha and Walter Marr and the sister to Jean (D 1928) Gordon (D 1997) (Irene Marr). Phyllis was pre-deceased by her husband Jack, missing him since his passing in 2015. Phyllis was raised in Dunnville, Ontario and raised her family there, before retiring to the beach town of Port Dover in 2002 with Jack. Phyllis was involved in the community everywhere she lived, serving and volunteering in many local organizations (Dunnville Fire Department Station 2, Grandview Lodge, Horticultural Society, Dunnville Hospital Foundation and the Grace United Church). She loved her home and her family the most. Phyllis raised three wonderful children, Robert (D 2006), Ruth (Hamilton) and Paul (Kingston). Phyllis was very proud of her four grandchildren, Philip and Brooke (Andrew Rous), Jonathan and Kate. Being a grandma was her pride and joy. She was always talking about these kids and her favourite days were seeing the kids. We are grateful for the care given by the doctors and nursing team at the Brantford General Hospital as well as the care and generous offers of support from her many neighbours and friends. Phyllis was well loved and will be greatly missed. A visitation will be held from 2:00-2:30pm, which will precede the funeral service that will take place on what would have been Phyllis’s 88th Birthday, on February 27th, 2022 at 2:30 pm at the Port Dover Grace United Church, 18 Chapman St. West Port Dover. Due to COVID restrictions the current capacity limit is 100. If restrictions are eased, a light lunch and time to share memories will be held following the service. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
