Obituary for Leo William Samson

Our dad, Leo William Samson died peacefully in his 96th year on August 2, 2022. He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Marie Theresa Samson (nee Mombourquette) and by his second wife Doreen Kilpatrick. Leo is survived by his children Kara, Annette (James Gordon), Don, Julie (Timothy Salisbury) and by his grandchildren Lucie, Justin, Scott, Matthew, Ryan and Jordan and eight great grandchildren.
Leo was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia where he began a long and successful career in the insurance industry, later moving to Montreal and then Toronto where he took on various roles ultimately retiring as a well respected Risk Manager for a major pulp and paper producer. Early in life, he learned the importance of hard work and instilled that same work ethic in us. He faced every challenge in life with admirable strength and courage.
Family meant more to our dad than anything else in the world and he took great pride in us and our accomplishments. He was always there for us whether helping us with our homework or guiding us through the complexities of parenthood or our careers. He was a man of strong faith and taught us the importance of family, hard work, giving back and doing what is right.

The staff at Bailie House Long Term Care Residence in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, did a fantastic job looking after our dad over the last four years. Thank you.
Dad, you are now at peace, but you will live on forever in our hearts. We love you so much. Rest in peace.
