Jean Marilyn Moore, in her 87th year, passed away peacefully at Welland Hospital on January 5th, 2021. She was born on April 26, 1934 on the Swayze farm to her parents, Richard and Dorothy Swayze. In her late teens, she fell in love with James Keith Stayzer and was married July 5, 1951. She was a rare combination of someone who had a love of life and a firm understanding of what was important — the simplicity of living a life with those you love. She and Jim raised four children and instilled in those kids the values that have served them all well.
Predeceased by her parents and two brothers Doug and Roger Swayze, as well as husbands Jim Stayzer and Allan Moore, Jean is survived by her sisters, Betty Kilts and Shirley Frausel. Her children Nancy (husband Craig), Cathy (husband Bart), Barry, and Penny (husband Len) were able to spend time with her at the end and say goodbye. Gramma Jean loved her grandchildren Gillian, Robin, Joey, Corey, James and Lydia, and her great-grandchildren Chelsea, Colton, and Sully.
Jean was a member of the Winger Church of Christ (Disciples) her entire life. She attended faithfully and served on many committees over the years. Most recently, she was the treasurer of the CWF until 2019.
Her passion was horses. She loved to ride. She called to this day, the horse she raised, her “ rascal “. She was the happiest out riding or just combing their tails.
A private family funeral will be held in the future. In lieu of flowers, donations to Winger Church of Christ are welcomed by the family.
