Obituary for Clarence Shelly Lehman

Clarence Shelly Lehman of Tillsonburg, Ontario, stepped into Heaven on March 26, 2021. Born on October 20, 1925, in Florin, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Elizabeth Shelly Lehman and Henry Ginder Lehman and was predeceased by his wife, Ruth (Pye) Lehman and an infant son, Dwight Arthur. He was also predeceased by his sisters, Anna Grace, Mary, Eva, Mildred and Ethel as well as his brothers, Jake, Roy, Henry, Earl and Robert and is survived by his sister Rhoda Funck. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 14 years, Pat (Long) and his daughters Martha (Tim) Giles and Linda (Dan) Wallman. Remembering “Papa” with love are his grandchildren Ben Giles, Peter (Jenna) Giles, Jeremy (Kendra) Giles, Elizabeth Giles, Andrew (Lee-Ann) Wallman, Rebecca (Jordan) Vallis and Leah (Matt) Bunch. He was also the proud great-Papa of 14 great-grandchildren.
Clarence was a lifelong educator, seeking his own education at Messiah College, Greenville College and New York State U. He had a true servant’s heart and served the Wainfleet BIC Church in many capacities. After retirement he and Ruth joined BIC World Missions for 3 years to teach missionary children in Venezuela, including 3 of their own grandchildren.
Clarence showed his love for his family by serving them with his many talents. Painting walls, mashing potatoes, making bread or crafting stained-glass gifts were all ways he said “I love you.” His home was always open to his children and grandchildren, and many wonderful hours were spent with “Nana and Papa” especially at their famous backyard picnics. Following Ruth’s death in 2004 and his marriage to Patricia (Long) in 2007 he expanded his family and love to include step-son Randy (Lynn), step-daughters April (Clayton) and Bonnie (Bob), as well as step-grandchildren Sarah, Jared, Luke (Lindsey), Curtis, Tiffany (Colin) and baby Harper, and Lora (Nick).
The funeral will be held at Wainfleet BIC Church on April 1, 2021 at 1:30 pm.
